“Everyone dies. Everyone leaves. What matters is the things you build together before they go. What matters is the part of them that continues in you when they’re gone.” ― Orson Scott Card, Children of the Mind
As a child I did not like to read as much as others. However, I was gifted the ender’s game box set from my uncle around my 12th birthday. These books drew me in and were a grand story I could not put down. Sense the original base set I have read the parallels and most of the books of the universe of Ender. It is funny how a book can have a huge impact on a life.
To this day I learned things from that fiction book that I felt more true then some religious texts. I think the 4th book Children of the Mind is what hit it home for me. I don’t want to spoil the books or reveal the plot. But know this we are all interconnected. Be it a tree to a bee. Or us to another. Connections are present with all things. This book explores this truth a little in some pretty unique ways unique to the fabric of the plot. Even though with that being said it has helped me to come to know a truth of strings and threads and connections. The threads that connect us be emotions, intentions, energy, physical, time bound and timeless.
When we talk health and tying to heal our illness one part that often gets over looked is our soul. The soul being the mind of the universe. The ins and outs of our whole being. When we overlook this key element of our self we only do ourselves harm. Happiness and purpose may be two different things but they are hand in hand. The soul is the reflection of our intentions, beliefs, and even understanding of that which is was and is to come. Our becoming is based on that which we interact and absorb. Just as we must walk the dog to get it and ourselves exercise. The jigsaw puzzle or riddle to keep our minds sharp. Fruits and veggies with productive proteins to keep us strong. Our connections keep our souls vibrant and youthful.
Ponder your purpose, reach out to the neighbor that you have not seen in a while during your morning walk. Allow yourself to let go that which ties you down. Pray to your god. Sing in the shower. The next peanut and butter with honey sandwich you make think of the bees that formed the honey. Everything is interconnected, everything is trying to survive and prosper, everything you give awareness to allows your soul to breath and to take form.
The next time you say hi to someone think of how you have intertwined. Did you smile, did you brighten their soul or did you diminish their fire with a glare. They next time your feeling ill or with anxiety. Think not only in your symptoms but also think of how you have recently allowed your soul expression. Dr Sue Morter (2019) reminds us “we are spiritual beings having a spiritual experience at the physical end of the energy spectrum.” This quote and teaching found in her wonderful book The Energy Codes.
We might know how to heal a wound but it might now fully heal if the soul is in pain. We know broccoli gives us better nutrition then a tub of ice cream but the soul might need to emotionally eat. The muscles on our arms might be moving but the weakness in our soul might be keeping it from toning. We must take our complete whole; mind body and soul and see how one effects the other. Once we find the balance we need then we will see those threads that connect us. We will allow our soul the flow it needs.
Let your inner self vibrate! Let your connections form! -Dean
